Last month our 7th graders concluded their High Sc Last month our 7th graders concluded their High School Exploration enrichment by researching and touring Cardinal Ritter College Prep, Crossroads College Preparatory School, John Burroughs School, Lutheran North High School, MICDS, Saint Louis Priory School, St. Mary's High School, and Westminster Christian Academy.

Yesterday our independent reading partners celebra Yesterday our independent reading partners celebrated Volunteer Appreciation Week with a lunch at Vito's! 📘💙

During independent reading, volunteers help students build their vocabulary and comprehension skills as they read a book of their choice together. We are incredibly grateful for the individualized support they provide and the many ways they make reading more fun for our students!

Each week our tutors work one-on-one with students. Together they track their assignments for the week, help them with their homework, and study for upcoming tests. We can't thank them enough for the many ways they help our students grow!

As Ignatian Volunteer Corps members, they both serve at Loyola Academy for the full school year. Mr. Zapf serves in the office of Academic Support, working with individual students and small groups. Mr. Plunkett serves as the Volunteer Coordinator, connecting our many independent reading partners and tutors with students. Today we had a pep rally to get students excited for their NWEA tests next week! The assembly included pump up videos created by students, a relay, and a competition for the best NWEA cheer.

On Friday, students were able to attend two career On Friday, students were able to attend two career readiness sessions! Students interested in law participated in a case study with Mr. Wendell from Pepperdine University. Students interested in health learned about Stop the Bleed, a national awareness campaign that encourages bystanders to become trained and equipped to help in a bleeding emergency while waiting for professionals to arrive. Thank you to both of our presenters for joining us last week!
The last three months with Mr. Brazzolotto, nSJ ha The last three months with Mr. Brazzolotto, nSJ have been an absolute joy for our students and staff! We are sad to have his assignment at Loyola Academy come to an end and are grateful for the positive, lasting impact he has made on our school community.

In 8th grade science, Mr. Vigil felt like students In 8th grade science, Mr. Vigil felt like students had spent too long focused on the textbook so he put aside their planned lecture for an impromptu day of experimenting with Bernoulli's Principal!  Students used soda bottles and balloons to make vortex "cannons" to blow out candles from 8 feet away and balanced balls on columns of air produced by hair dryers and leaf blowers.

Earlier today, Mr. Hale guided us through the hist Earlier today, Mr. Hale guided us through the history and traditions of a Seder, a Passover meal that commemorates and celebrates the Hebrews’ liberation from slavery in Egypt. Students and staff enjoyed learning about the symbolism of each dish, including Mr. Hale's own kharoset!
Today our students performed a live Stations of th Today our students performed a live Stations of the Cross, a Lenten devotional activity that focuses on moments of the last day of Jesus' Passion. 8th grade students moved throughout the gym to represent the fourteen stations, while the remaining students and staff reflected upon their own hardships, compassion, and unity.

The theme for the day was "Ignatian Leadership: Contemplatives in Action." Students reflected on their past two years at Loyola Academy and how they would like to lead as 8th graders next school year.
Congratulations to our 6th and 8th grade basketbal Congratulations to our 6th and 8th grade basketball teams for winning their City-County Championship games this weekend!! 🏆🎉 This is the second year in a row for our current 8th grade team. Way to go, Knights!!

Yesterday our students and staff loved welcoming R Yesterday our students and staff loved welcoming Rayon Simmons Jr., class of 2004, back to campus to share his story!

Ray spoke to our community about his experiences at Loyola Academy, as a student athlete, and as a current coach at St. Mary's High School. He emphasized the value of being a student first and reminded students that while being an athlete is an incredible experience, having a strong work ethic and looking at life in broader terms is even more important. Thank you, Ray!!
